OUR STORY

Our little Sugar Nursery started when my daughter was only eight. She found one of my cake decorating books that I hadn’t touched in years and asked “momma, can we make one of those pretty cakes?”

Maddy’s grandmother had started living with us after the sudden passing of my father, my career was all-consuming, and I had been divorced since my little one was two. Not much time to make pretty cakes back then! Her question stayed with me and, as I began to care for my mom, we came across an ad from a local craft store for cake decorating classes.

This was the start of what was to become a fulfilling journey into the land of sweets through course work, both locally and abroad, eventually leading us to teach hundreds of students and create custom cakes and sweets for milestone events and charities. We immersed ourselves in our Sugar Nursery and affectionately created our own brand identity.

We have made many sweet friendships through our learning, teaching, and catering adventures for over a decade. The world of sweets has also introduced us to so many brilliant and talented local creatives and small businesses we feel so lucky to have collaborated with.

Our greatest joy comes from our clients and our community. The trust you place in us to help you create sweet memories fuels our creativity and warms our hearts. OUR PROCESS

From the time you place an order request to the time of your event, we will be with you every step of the way to ensure your sweets are just as you imagined.

    Completing our super simple order form is the first step of the ordering process. We'll respond to your request within 48 hours to confirm our availability.

    Once you've completed the order form and we've checked our calendars, we'll have a consultation with you to get to discuss flavours, quantities, designs and other important details! Keep an eye out for our special wedding cake brochure in your inbox ahead of your consultation.

    You'll receive a quote for your order with easy-peasy payment instructions. Once the deposit is paid, your order is confirmed and the Sugar Nursery magic begins.

    Depending on the type of event, we’ll deliver a box of samples for you to try with family and friends. This is often the best part! We'll also confirm design details at this stage.

    The wait is over! It's delivery day. Deliveries are prearranged when you order and, depending on the sweet and your preference, we also offer convenient pickup locations.

    Once delivered and setup, we'll leave you with cutting instructions, a flavour card for display, and a box for you to transport any leftovers (we can't guarantee you'll need it!).
